We all have them. The "Y" shaped magazine holders that come with the pistols. I personally really don't like them. I like my magazines vertical. My question is, is there an aftermarket magazine holder with an open top for XD 45's that have some retention to them?

Most of the holster makers also sell mag holders, check the web sites and midway.

I use the Blackhawk double stack mag holders. Works well with either XD9sc or XD45c mags. Also use their single stack mags for the 1911's.

Currently I use a Milt Sparks single mag carrier. I also have one from Galco, a dual mag carrier from Blackhawk and Galco.

Any mag holder for the STI/SVI mags or the large caliber Glock mags should work for the XD45 if they have a little adjustment.

Galco has some small retension screw on the dual mag holders. Blackhawk uses spring loaded pressure. I am sure that there are others but I have not seen any of them.

here are a couple of photos of my IPSC competition belt with SafariLand mag holders (XD 45). i manufactured the brass retention bolts.

they are the same holders as a Glock 36 uses.

Yep, I use the same for mine. Very nice and has a little tension. I can do anything without worrying about the mag falling out.

I'm a fan of the Gebhard Solutions kydex mags here. The angle of the holster angles the top of the mag close to your body.

I also use the Blackhawk! Double Stack magazine holders. I put two of them on a Blackhawk! C1352 paddle and this is the best range set up I've found so far.

Just a note: The Blackhawk! CQC Double-stack, 9mm/.40, Single Magazine Case fits the XD-45 mags perfectly. The tensioner is near perfect. If you use it for 9mm/.40 XD mags, fully loaded magazines can be shaken out upside-down. I solved this by removing the tensioner and applying 2 or 3 coats of Plasti-Dip spray grip coating.
