ok guys, just picked up an XDM .40 i have been rolling around the idea of starting to get into some ammateur competitions and wanted to hear some good logical arguments in either of the following's favors.

    1) keep the .40, it's not much snappier than the 9mm and you won't really be much less accurate with it. (i will be carrying this XDM in .40 regardless of whether i convert it) save $155 in this crap economy

    2) buy the $155 conversion barrel and shoot with the 9mm, you will be more accurate with it for competition.

the other two options i'm not going to list are

-use my .45C (my carry gun as of now)
reason: i am great with the .45 but just feel like due to the features, the XDM will be inherently more accurate (plus it's my new toy)

    -use my taurus 1911
reason: i'll be honest, i'm a huge guy and i still hate carying this full sized 1911, maybe when i get a gunbelt i will not be so misourable with the 1911 but until then i'd like to stay on the "conversion or not conversion" topic.

came across this vid. this guy seems liek he likes the .40 just fine

I converted just for the fun of it, cary one gun and a spare barrel and go to the range.
    If I wanted to shoot a 9 for competition I will shoot my 9 not a 40 with a 9 conversion.
Also if ammo gets short I can still use my XD 40SC rather than my Full frame 9.
So I am not sure how to vote.

I voted to stay with .40. I bought a 9mm conversion barrel and 4 mags for my xdm and doubt I ever get my moneys worth out of them by shooting. I end up running all my 9mm through my fnp and xdsc.
