First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have a black on black XDM 40 and want a stainless slide. I have looked everywhere and can't find one anywhere! Does anybody know where I can ge ahold of one, or is there anybody with a stainless slide that would prefer black?

IF you can find a person willing to swap, that will be the only way to get another slide. The easiest way to get a stainless slide "look" is to have one of the aftermarket companies (or Springfield themselves) refinish the slide. There are NO slides available aftermarket or from Springfield to buy.

what he said, the only way to get a stainless slide is to either buy one from the get-go, get your black refinished, or find someone that wants to trade away for some reason

Well that sucks. I wanted to buy one from the get go but the place I bought it from only carried it in black and couldn't order one in stainless. It's the only place in town that sells new handguns and I wanted it too bad to wait for one online.

why couldnt they order one in stainless? that makes no sense. seems like they just wanted a fast sale out of you knowing you were itching to buy the gun

    Welcome to the forum gotmud187..

You have other (and better) options than replacing your slide..
That would conflict the serial numbers on your pistol..

I'd look into having your slide refinished in hard chrome or nickel.

I had my black XD9sc hard chromed and I was very happy with it.
Had the slide, controls, and internals hard chromed..

    Just something to consider..;)

The hard chrome is the way I would go. I know that Metalife will do the slide for $70. You can get it in the brushed stainless look or matte finish.

The number on the slide has nothing to do with the serial number on the frame, they do not have to match.

    don

Regardless. I would rather do that ^^^^^ than swap or even buy one if it were available.
