    According to what I can find on post-korean S/Ns, looks like mine is roughly April 1954.

    Mine is August of '43 too. They were really pumping out some rifles back then. I always wonder if mine ever saw any action and what kind of stories it would tell if it could talk.

    Looks like my Winchester was made in April of 1942...I picked it off a rack of Garands at Woolworths about 15-20 yrs ago. Picked the only Winchester they had, because I had heard they were less common then S.A.
    I have a bayonet maked;
    U.F.H
    U."O"S.
    1943
    Anybody have info/rarity on bayonets mine has a wood scabard covered in rawhide with a leather end cap, the end that the blade enters is metal riveted to the wood and leather. Value?

    There is no such thing as matching numbers on a Garand.
    There is one serial number then drawing numbers on everything else.
    There are charts and books that will tell you if your parts are correct for the serial
    If you want to know post them and I can look them up

    I had a whole box of them that were turned in by a JROTC, they were dummy/drill rifles without wood, they'd been welded up so they were just hunks of metal anymore. But it was still a minor drool factor to have all these M1's in my warehouse. (I work for the Army and they're being sent of to god knows where for final disposition, whatever that may be).

    Come to think of it, one was chromed and had "Smith-Corona" on it LOL

    Edit: that "Smith-Corona" might have been a 1903...I had a bunch of those in the same condition as well.
