Vepr to Saiga, Adjustable Comb

A acquaintance of mine on another firearms forum knew I was having problems with cheek weld on my Saiga-ver.21, and he has had similar problems.

I need about 2.25" and have tried many options, none have been satisfactory.
My buddy had come into three sets of Vepr 308 furniture for next to nothing, and he wanted to work on modifying them with adjustable combs.
The first set would be the learning curve, iron out the problems and refine the craftsmanship, and I could have the first set.

Well... Hell yeah & thank you!

All I'll have left to do is some fitting to match the Saiga's rear slant cut.
Finish the wood, I'm thinking BLO.
And to 'Pay It Forward'

Three sets to choose from, I took the dark set on the far right.

Work in progress

Ready for fitting & finishing

All done, stock fitted & refinished.
Three coats of hand rubbed BLO, brings a nice rich, warm glow to the darkness of the Russian Walnut.
The cheek weld is great, repeatability of the weld is automatic, there is no room for much variance.
The comb locks solidly into place, no wobble, no slippage.
I cannot thank my buddy Darek enough.

So my buddy Darek, who did the Adjustable Comb mod for me.
This was just R&D for him, a practice run, now for the real fun.

He has a Vepr Super on it's way to his FFL, and he is going to do the Adjustable Comb mod & do an Adjustable Length of Pull mod.
I look forward to seeing it, heck, I look forward to possibly shooting it.
