Is XDM 5.25" comp worth buying over XD Mod2 tactical 5" for USPSA shooting?

Thanks I'm asking because I can"t find a XDM 5.25 comp. new for sale and the Mod2 Tactical is available. So, I should wait for the Xdm then?

Why don't buy online and have it shipped to your local FFL/LGS. Chances are you may be able to find a cheaper price than your local sale.

Question: have you tried shooting a few matches with what you have? Be a shame to pick early and decide different after some experience.

That's the advice I give to people who want to start in IDPA too. Come on out with what you carry and give it a try. Once they're at a match they can see what everyone else is using and what they think might work for them. Too many people go out and waste money on stuff they don't like or don't use later, before they even come to the first match. Odds are, all you need is a couple of good mag carriers and you can do as well for your first year without buying much of anything else. Save that extra money for ammo and a couple of good books / DVD's to help you get started.

I shot my first USPSA match this weekend, so I'm no expert but I would choose the XDm over the Mod 2 every time. However, I would agree with the others that you should shoot whatever you currently have first to see how you like match shooting and also to understand what you might like to change or add in your next equipment purchase. I shot my match this weekend with my 4.5" XDm in 9mm - it's the gun I'm most comfortable with. I mistakenly entered the Limited division (I should have shot Production), but I have plenty of skills that I should work on before upgrading to the competition model.
