few weeks back I was able to trade one of my Browning Auto-5s for an unmolested Saige 223--I wasted no time in removing the epic suck from its crappy imported layout...
After some Dremel-fu and a little coaxing with some hand tools, using a Tapco G2 single-hook FCG, Hogue AK Grip, Tapco Grip Nut, No-Name Stock Adapter and a BLACKHAWK knoxx Stock I proceeded with the transformation
I polished the contact surfaces on the Bolt/Carrier and Fire Control Group with a Felt wheel and some FLITZ...no grittyness in the break and the bolt felt glassy smooth when cycling by hand...
Dropped in the polished G2 and slapped on the Hogue grip...then proceeded to mod the Safety Lever to act as a Bolt Hold-Open...the Saiga one just flat sucks and couple of my local ranges require an open bolt when downrange...simple measurement and a little more Dremel-fu...looks and functions like factory! Also found some plastic hole covers at the hardware store that filled the holes above the grip area nicely and look like factory rivets to boot!!
Finally, I added the stock adapter and BLACKHAWK Knoxx stock I had...its not likely to be the final stock but until I decide on a Folder, it will fit the bill nicely...
As soon as my Quad Rail arrives, I have a Sightmark Mini Shot, Magpul AFG2 and a Streamlight Polytac/ Picatinny Mount ready to go followed by a Dinzag bullet guide and some Tapco Galil Mags...
