I sort of like it...NA power is pretty low, but this car isn't about straight line speed....and that said, I like it...

It is the interior I wish Subies already had. Probably still relatively cheap plastics, but it looks much better than the WRX/STI

    Why I love my S2000

I'm in love. The output could be higher, but that will come.

I'm diggin this. So Subaru is putting out a non-AWD? That's a first...at least for a long time anyway. Looks like a fun car on the cheap end of the market. I bet the sell very well!

Never much cared for these 4-6 cylinder ricers.

That was my thought too. The Scion version will very likely be a purchase in the near future. Very cool car for the money.

See I have always viewed Ricer as a mentallity...A civic, in this way, is not a "ricer" when owned by a mom of two who has no intention of ever exceeding 5k RPM, let alone trying to race, never wants to slap a fat cannon on the back end for 4whp, no air intakes going on, no stickers on the side for extra HP, and lastly, no wing FTW.

Now, same car different scenario...Kid buys his fist car, it is cheap and sort of crappy but all he can afford on his own. Buys a civic. Tries to make the best with what he can. Buys whatever part associated with being "ricey" and does what makes him happy without receiving a "hand-out" from Mom and Dad. I don't consider that rice either. To each his own; if I don't agree with it, that doesn't make it wrong.

Turn of the page stuff here, a kid gets a brand new 5.0 that Mommy and Daddy buy. Kid gets them to buy whatever he wants for the car, associated as "muscle aftermarket parts - not ricer stuff." Then, this same D-bag tries to race everyone he sees on public roadways. There is the ricer.

So, I don't consider a car a "ricer," no, in fact I am pretty sure Ricer typically refers to the drivers themselves.

It also makes me wonder if you consider Lotus' "ricers" because of their engine displacement? The fact is that most of these "under-powered" cars are not made for straight line driving so weight and balance are more important, as emphasized by low center of gravity in the post.

Have never thought of it in the mindset you have described, but guessing that can apply also. I'm just "old school". Where Corvettes, Camero's, Hemi Charger RST's, and now...the new Cadillac CTS V's still rule the roads. I wouldn't even waste my gas if I was challenged by one of these "small dispalcement" auto's with a exhaust tip the size of a pie plate, sounding like a swarm of bees.

    Until you get spanked lol.

I used to have a 450whp civic that would blow the doors off a CTS-v

But in the end a civic is a civic and a caddy is a caddy(I drive a BMW now FWIW).

People grow up but that car was fun to drive if nothing but impractical.

That is the only reason I replied....just to add another mindset. I am not right or wrong in my subscription to that belief but when I drive my car, and I have all these D-bags in whatever car they drive, try to rev and race me on public roads....I consider them ricers. I wouldn't waste my gas 'racing' anyone on public roads...Now-a-days, it doesn't take a V8 to be fast though...I do like vettes and I have been following the C7 with what little info is available..and I don't care for camaros...partly because I know a kid who has one and is a total tool. The epitomy of a danger to society.

I don't consider anything that only makes 200 hp a sports car. Maybe a coupe.

not out yet, that car has manufacturer plates, it will be a 2013 model

put a car like a BRZ vs a Mustang in an autocross event and see who wins. Who is the sports car then? To just look at power ratings is a bit silly.
