I like Ar'S A LOT. I wanted one real bad, but the price is fricken stupid.

I got my Mini 14 Tactical form CDNN for 597.97 shipping and all, plus they gave me a free rail mount.

I love the 5.56, and there is no way I will ever own a AK 47 and the worthless 7.62 round.

The 7.62x39 is worthless? AK is worthless?

    News to me! LOL

I like my Mini-14 but when it is hitting the fan...I want my "worthless AK" thank you.

I could not find a brand new AR that was worth a crap, under 600 bucks, so I got a brand new Tactical Mini 14 form CDNN for only 597.97 inculeds shipping and a free rail mount.

Do you just love the AR manufacturers taking care of their customers and and providing goods people can afford huh?

Man, they are such smart business people.

a quality firearm is going to cost money, its not going to be free. thats what you are paying for from the major manufacturers, quality. im not saying that the mini isnt a quality gun but it is made by ruger now. Their ar is $1300+. plus an ar looks way better. i have 2 rra and have never had a problem. but i know that if i do have a problem they will make it right. rra gives a lot of rifle for not a lot of money.

    Here's one for $750

Or, if only you saved up a couple hundred more...

Oh, and you likely could have made an AR for around $600.

Plum crazy lower - $119.99 (Not promoting these, but they are cool for what you pay)
    Spike's 16" upper - $525
    Magpul MBUS (Gen 2) - $55
    Magpul PMAG - $14.20
    Total - $714.19 + S&H

As you can see, it's not cheap making these things. But a bit more patience and you would have wound up with what you wanted. Enjoy the Mini-14.

I love my mini, but I like my ar's a little more. the mini is fun to shoot though and turns heads with the way mine looks. I dont like AK's they are way too cliche and i find my AR better then the ak's i have shot

Buy 3 mags and you've recouped the AR price premium:p...well, not really, but almost.

I went with the Kel-Tec SU-16. my number 2 choice was a Saiga (probably would have got one in 5.45x39). I couldn't justify the AR price premium either.

ps. with modern production methods, there is no reason they couldn't profitably make an AR for $300

I heard the New mini 14's have somewhat of a bull barrel which helps pull the grouping in tighter. Mine is from 1981 I think (Its an old SS w/ factory folder, like the A-Team rifle) Grouping on mine is worse then the ar 15. I enjoy cleaning the mini 14 more then the AR it is an extremely simple design. The AR has a much smoother recoil and tighter group, I like the side folder option for Mini's. Shot for shot off a cold gun it performs the same as the AR (I think the barrel resonance is throwing my follow up shots off slightly) The trigger is nice and easy to cleanup the pull on if you have a good idea of what you are doing. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuSRX92q-sI]YouTube - Mini-14 Trigger Job: "The Yoda G Mod"[/ame] is a decent link I found.

If you browse their website often enough, you can hit on one of the CMMG bargin bin rifles that is a quality AR15 for $500 to $560.

7.62x39 is actually more useful than 5.56x45. Simply, it goes through more stuff, hits it harder, and knocks it down. Its also easier and cheaper to get your hands on in most areas. Could be why they make AR15s and other rifles that the caliber is not original to in it.

    Including the Mini 30.

    Duh.

I hate the stigma that comes with an AK, the round is pretty impressive though. As I walked into the range today and prepped my mini 14 and my AR15 a guy with an ak asked me if I knew much about AK's he was having feeding issues, I cleaned it really quick for him and the gun fired flawlessly.

Needless to say the AK was auto and the guy was a Dumby so was firing full auto holding it down through an entire mag, ended up smoking out the indoor range and got the rifle lanes shut down so i didnt get to shoot my rifles much.

I wanted to drop kick the f-er in the face since his actions prevented me from shooting more than 40 rounds.
