Study on replacing 5.56/7.62 NATO ammo.

    If we have to carry 210 rounds of .308, what gear are we giving up?

    I would love to see an AR in .243...IMO it hits the multi-role sweet spot.

    Then why isn't it really mentioned much? And I don't mean that snark at all. I'm genuinely asking. I know some have chambered ARs in 243,but they have to use AR10 large frame right? It's not like it's not common.

    The OAL length is too long.

    And when you get into the longer AR-10, 6.5 Creedmoor makes a lot more sense for it.

    But then why bother replacing 7.62x51 if we're going with a platform that can chamber it anyway.

    Yup. Seems like it was .280 or .283 Garand. I wanna say a Savage trial rifle was also chambered in .270 Savage (I think that was the caliber...it was early on before the Army set it to be in .30 Government.)

    It was .276 Garand.

    That rifle trial was a bunch of Tomfoolery
