I have taken my XD40 apart more times then I can count and have had it for 10 years. Been my most reliable firearm! But now the striker pin seems to be overly excited! I don't ever remember it sticking out as far as it does since I assembled it the other night. Anyone have any ideas!

Take the slide off and see if the firing pin is sticking out of the breech face.

Striker safety isn't catching. I just had the same problem. Take the back plate off, remove the striker guide and spring. Pull the striker safety retaining pin out and the striker safety and striker safety spring. Reassemble the slide by inserting the striker safety and spring first. Depress it as far down as it'll go then insert the pin making sure it's oriented the correct way. Pop the guide and spring back in,slide the back plate on and it should be good to go.

Did you take the striker safety out? It's still installed in your pic. Needs to be installed before the striker is put back in.
