What's the deal with the .40 cal EMP? I haven't seen but a few people that have them. Is there anyone here that has one and if so, how do you feel about it?

    Not real fun to shoot!

The 40 EMP kicks like a mule, the 9mm EMP is outstanding.

You think the .40 kicks more than the 9MM??? What weight ammo did you shoot in the .40?

Shot some 135gr CorBon, 155gr Federal and 165gr Speer Gold Dots.

A friend has both the 9mm and the .40 EMP. With the size and weight of
the EMP, the 9mm has a good amount of oomph to it. The .40 S&W in the
    EMP is a handful.

I would HIGHLY recommend you shoot one in .40 before you buy

I shoot a .40 out of an 18 oz. polymer (Kahr P40). On my first outing with it I thought it was a bit stout but after a few range sessions I got used to it. A .40 out of a 32 oz gun (EMP) shouldn't be too bad at all. It's whatever you practice with. If .40 is for you and you like micro size 1911's then the EMP is the right gun for you.

Well I just picked one up a few hours ago. Feels and looks great! Now I just need to go put a couple hundred rounds through it.

I bought ad EMP .40 last week and I like it, and also have a .40 subcompact XD. I think the EMP feels smoother and easier to keep on target than the XD subcompact. The EMP is also narrower making it easier for me to conceal carry.

I took it out and fed it 300 rounds today. It ran like a clock and was very accurate. I true pleasure to shoot. Whoever says it's not fun to shoot because it kicks must be a little limp-wristed because this thing felt great to me.

Funny how that works. I have a sc9 which I carry most of the time. Went and rented a 40sc and loved the feel. Initially did not think it kicked that bad, until I shot my 9sc after. Big difference. If you are used to a 40, have a good time and enjoy. I also have a 45. Love it too. Still think the 40 has a lot of muzzle flip vs. even the 45. But, again, it's whatever you like. Enjoy.

EMP 40 is very pleasant to shoot. Muzzle flip is no worse than XDsc (I own two of these in 40 as well). I do wish that EMP 40 has front strap checkering though. I highly recommend putting a Hogue Grip on the EMP 40. I have it installed on the EMP 9mm and it is much much much better in terms of grip and feel of the grip.

Recoil spring on the EMP 40 is TIGHT, so make sure you can rack it before you buy it. The frame is also heavy, unlike the EMP 9mm.

I think later on I'll have the front of the grip checkered and maybe have the grip safety shaved down a little.
