I was at Sports Authority on Sunday (Denver off of Araphoe & I-25) and was talking to the manager of the hunting section. He stated his Sports Authority store was going to stop selling handguns and stock several more rifles. They are going to be shipping handguns from several select stores to a grand re-opening for a store in Lakewood Colorado Mills off of Colfax. At least he thought it was the Lakewood store. He wasn't sure how many stores were going to be effected in the handgun change. But he did state within the next 30 days they are going to have a big sell on ammo & handguns to move inventory the weekend before Thanksgiving.

About 2 months ago they had a sell on Shotgun ammo for $2.00 a box. I bought 2 cases and should have bought 2 more. Anyway might want to keep an eye out at Sports Authority over the next month.

They have already stopped selling handguns at the Parker location - probably about 6 months ago. It seems rather ironic to me that they would send them to the Colorado Mills store since Colorado Mills is posted no concealed weapons. I may still have to check on what kind of deals they have.

I did notice that the handgun ammo in Parker is marked down from its original price, but still not as low as other sources in the area.

The Sports Authority stores in my neck of the woods discontinued carrying handguns 7 or 8 years ago (then again, the Sports Authority store by my office closed a few months back...).

Alan0269 do you live in Parker? I live in Parker in Canterberry just off the 12th hole of the golf course.

He said the handguns his store had would be reduced then if not sold moved to a new grand re-opening of a store in Lakewood. They are going to use the grand opening to off load excess rifles and handguns. All of the stores are to be holding some sort of ammo sell to reduce inventory.

Also in Colorado you can still CCW even if they have a sign posted no weapons. Only place you can not carry is K-12/ Public Schools and locations where security systems are in place such as a court or federal building. All they can do is ask you to leave if they spot the weapon.

Where have you seen cheaper ammo? Sportsman's usually has the best prices in my neck of the woods.

Seems like the CO folks need to have a range day.

Too late. My sports authority no longer carries any firearms or firearm related items. I guess I missed the sale. :(

I was stoked on the Shotgun Ammo sell they had. I really should have bought 2 more cases of shells. It was a smoking deal at $2.00 a box of 25. One guy ahead of me bought 8 cases and was going to re-sell them at $4.00 a case.

They have had a few good deals on other items. It sounds like they are going to have a nation wide sell the weekend before Turkey day.

Is the gun store still there off of Main street...the shopping center just south of the waterpark?

I was in there a couple summers ago. the guys seemed quite nice and the prices looked to be reasonable.

The Sports authorities in our area haven't carried handguns in the 11 years I have lived here...as a matter of fact, they recently stopped carrying rifles and shottys as well.

Only thing Sports Authority is good for anymore is roller blades and women's sports bras.
