I found a guy with a LNIB Glock 30S with night sights who wants a G27. Ad claimed 60 rounds fired. I contacted him, we chatted and it looks like I will be the proud owner of a G30S this Saturday. I wasn't in the market to unload the 27 but when I saw this trade posted on the local trade site I had to do some serious thinking. The night sights really sealed the deal for me. I'm giving him a little ammo and a pinky extender to even things out. Both are Gen3. To say I'm stoked would be an understatement. Pics to come.
I know I'm a minority on the G27, but that's the Glock that really turned me off from the platform. It wasn't accurate and was a jam-o-matic, not to mention excessive recoil. The G30S on the other hand is a nice gun, I'd get another in a nanosecond.
My first Glock was the G27, but it hasn't been shot since the G30S arrived. I sent it to CBC a few years back so I'm sure I'll keep it, but I never shoot or carry it anymore.
I really liked the 27 size wise and all but when I get the 30s and a flush mag I'm going to be riding about the same size so it's a real no brainier in my eyes. And I shoot 45 better than I do 40. As stated before, 40 is a great round but it needs to be tamed in a larger package. On top of that, I'm trading up since mine has stock sights and the 30s has mepros on it.
Good call on the channel liner. I always find it odd when people have a Glock that is super problematic. I believe it's most times an easy/overlooked fix. The design is so simple and proven.
Thanks man. I will tell ya... I didn't go to the range in a few months after a recent move, and my G27 was having FTF's and FTE's and odd striker indents on the cases... I replaced the recoil spring and chalked up the issues to limpwristing/being rusty but something just didn't feel right about the gun... and i've never had any kind of malfunction with my 27 so I was getting pretty frustrated.
So I popped the striker out, and voila... the channel liner was loose, and it came out with the striker assembly. After months of troubleshooting, simply using a bic pen and resetting the channel liner cured all issues I was having.
I believe I most likely got some oil in the striker channel before I moved and it sat there got gunked up, and dislodged the channel liner. So even though Glock doesn't really recognize it as a part... it's always important to check and make sure that stupid thing is seated every 500-1000 rounds.
Let me know if you have any problems finding a 9 round mag...don't overpay for it. You can find them now online for around $25 plus shipping. Some of our local shops are stocking them now for $25-30.
Yeah, I saw a few places with those same prices. I remember them being all OUT OF STOCK on the good sites. Probably order one of those and a 21mag for good measure.
Congrats on the 30S, I will never give up my 27 because it's so convincing but for the 30S is an awesome piece, good deal I think. You will see that the 30S is a soft shooter, well too me anyway let us know when you get it and take it to the range.
Thanks Mojo, a little more than 24 hours and she's all mine. I want to just jump and order the 9 round flush but I'll wait until it's in my hands and the papers are signed. lol
Just printed my bill of sale. Need to get me a egg samitch before I head over. Count down is on gents.
