This is my second RIA 1911, I used to have a 1911 Tactical, but sold it and upgraded to a Springfield 1911 Loaded… but I still love how the RIA performed for such a bargain, so I decided to give them a try again this time for the Tactical 2011 VZ grips and I got to tell you I’m in love with this gun.. I think I like it more that my Springer.
    The good:
The gun is super tight, no play at all, full rail dust cover, VZ grips, magwell (cheap one, but does the job), adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front (bright, but somewhat dim indoors), checkered mainspring housing (but made of plastic! WTF?), front and rear angle serrations (super sharp!), skeletonized trigger, among others.
    The bad:
I was surprised this gun came with a plastic MSH, my old RIA tactical and my current Springer doesn’t. Also the gun its build perfectly, but is has some serious sharp edges!! (The serrations are literally serrated), but not a problem since I always wear gloves shooting my 1911. Also the trigger was very gritty, but after a detail field strip and removing the excess residue from the internals it runs like butter.
But at the end I think this gun is worth much more than what I paid ($568 + transfer)

P.S: I would like to paint the roll marks so the whole gun looks black...any suggestions??

    Enjoy the pics

I love it. I had a 2011 Tactical without the fiber front sight and VZ grips and it was fantastic....shot hollow points just fine and never really had a hiccup with it.....then I sold it to my best friend who drove me crazy about how much he loved it (and he didn't own a handgun before then).

Maybe check out the permablue pens. I havent tried it but some of the vuys on the 1911 forum seem to have good luck with it.

Love the RoboCop look. I've been thinking about picking one of these up instead of a full rail TRP. They're half the price and I'm a bargain shopper ha.

ah thanks for the info. I usually prefer the nickel or hard chrome look in comparison to the darker look but that one looks good and definitely worth 568 if it runs good which I assume it will those RIA are pretty tough

I really want a 1911, and the rock islands are a price point I could make happen, but the large stamping/roll marks on the slide just suck. I don't see why they can't make it without them.

You could use a wood block and some sand paper to take off the rollmark. Then do a cerakote or gunkote in black or whatever color you like.

    Thanks for the comment guys
Yeah it was a pretty good deal for $568 I got it online from Buds and had it transferred to my LGS.

In regards to the roll marks, i really don't want to duracoat/cerakote it... I really want to mantain the factory look without the huge roll marks on the side. I might try the perma blue or flat black to see which one matches better the finish on the slide.

Ill post some pics after i take it to the range this weekend

Sweet gun I really like the look of the VZ grips. How does the VZ grips feel in your hands? I am thinking about getting a set for my 1911
