Found an Rock Island Armory TCM at my LGS for $650.00. Anybody own one or have experience with one? It's brand new with the 9mm conversion barrel. I'm pretty tempted. It would be my first foray into the 1911 realm.

Thinking about going and getting it tomorrow when I get off work if the price is decent. Also, LGS price on .22TCM is $30/50rds. That decent? I wouldn't shoot it much anyways, just an occasional range toy for the gf. Lol

Just found Cuda66's purchase post. Same price, so I'd say it'll be a done deal tomorrow. 😀

Not the ideal first buy for a 1911 but I still want one. The .22 tcm is gonna be cheaper to get then 9mm right now.

I've got plenty of 9mm, and the .22TCM will probably get shot very little. Mostly I've been looking for something with light recoil for the girlfriend. Both these calibers seem to fit the bill.

I shoulda known I'd get very one telling me to buy a .45, but honestly I'm just not a big fan. Maybe someday I'll buy a purist's 1911, but not right now. 😃 Decided after looking at reviews online and everyone's thoughts on this forum, I'm gonna go fill out paperwork when I get off work in the morning.

I like mine in 9mm quite a bit; the only thing is that magazines are a right pain to find right now; I'm glad I picked up some from CDNN back in November...I also found a Mec-Gar that works, too.

I work at a range so my experience is second hand but a customer who had one it worked great with the 9mm but the 22 TCM had failures to go to battery the recoil spring felt slightly to light. He wrote RIA and they treated him like a VIP. Their customer service seemed unreal.

All second hand but I shot the gun in 9mm and it was dead on.

Actually, that is typical of RIA's customer service.

I've never needed it, but everything I've heard about them is a top-notch outfit.

I have one with over 2K rounds through it; great pistol. The magazines are somewhat of an issue but RIA has the best customer service of any company I've dealt with. I sent my back and Shawn at RIA de-burred, tuned the trigger and extractor and installed a fiber optic front sight at no charge. Mine feeds the TCM round better than the 9 but it's no big deal.

RIA is pro-active and very helpful; you can't go round.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. Filled out paperwork today. Got it for $650 OTD. Also picked up 200 rds of TCM for $100. Now I just have to wait until Monday. I hate IL wait periods. Lol. I can't wait until Tuesday when I get to run some rounds through it. =)

Congrats I have own mine since jan. and love it. I want some vz grips and a new front site. Other than that it is a gas to shot. The 22tcm round is loud and has a big flash. Be ready to play show n tell at the range. It is an attention getter.

Anybody know if pistol ranges (indoor) will even allow this round, seems like at that velocity it wouldn't be good for the backstop. Dunno how thick most pistol range backdrops are? I pretty much only shoot at my buddy's house unless it's raining and I get a wild hair, then I pay to use a range in the area.

    It won't hurt a backstop.

    The rounds are SJHPs.

Picked it up today. Gonna head to a buddy's house and shoot it tomorrow. He'll be at work, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Lol.

I wanna shoot one. Seems fun.

The .22 tcm is just a silly looking cartridge too, it amuses me.
