Finally got myself a Burris FastFire II for my FNP-45 Tactical. This is my first MRDS, and have a quick question on mounting.

It says I need to mount the gasket plate under the sight for waterproofing/resistance. I Assume this to be that gasket plate:

IF so, then the kit also includes a thicker firmer "gasket plate", which to me is more like a shim. IS it a MOA shim (for elevation adjustments), or is it the "gasket" plate?

I wish I had your answer, but mine (2 of them, now :D )only came with one gasket, so I've no clue what the thicker one might be.

Did one come with the sight, and the other with the FNP adaptor ?

They both came in the sight. Sight was used though, so I don't know if the plate was purchased by someone else. the FNP Comes with it's own mounting plate :)

Emailed them to ask, no response. Haven't had time to call.

The gasket is flexible rubber/polymer and paper thin.

Shim is pretty obvious as one end is thicker than the other.

I used the gasket at first but then didn't put it back on after I changed the battery. Never shoot my guns in rainy/wet conditions so it seemed like overkill.

Thanks :) Now if I could get the sight back from them. It had some burrs on the locating holes, so they told me to send it in for replacement. That was two weeks ago when they got it :|
