has anyone had any issues with winchester white box ball ammo?
I personally haven't. Yet. I actually have a box of 100 sitting about 10 feet from me. Others say it is very dirty ammo
I shot maybe 25 rounds yesterday and the casings were filthy with powder. I always thought it was known for being good reasonably cheap ball ammo
shot a couple thousand .45 acp, my students have shot probably 2k in 9mm never had a bad round (my rental 9mm sig p6). I"ve had a bad PDX1 round from winchester but never a white box.
My LGS has stopped carrying it for now, various issues like bad cases and improperly seated primers. He said Win has closed a plant and the plant currently making WWB is having QC problems. Will probobly get sorted out eventually.
Gone through several hundred rounds of 9mm in my xdm compact. Seems lime good cheap ammo and I have friends that have used it for years.
I do prefer speer lawman personally though.
I have also not had any issues with winchester white box yet. Some of my spare carry magazines consist of 147grn WWB JHP's, but I inspected each round and measured them with a digital caliper.
I've probably shot at least 1K rounds in the last 6 months and haven't had a single problem. I do hear sometimes about bad batches of ammo from various manufacturers sometimes. Some people at work swear by BVAC but some guys I work with bought some all around the same time and are having a lot of problems with it.
It is very dirty ammo..Most of what I buy from them is perfectly fine...Oh except the time that the primer was missing from the cartridge and my ammo was littered with powder....I still buy because they are cheap and I inspect my ammo before I shoot it so no harm no foul.
In thousands upon thousands of rounds, I've never had a problem with WWB.
In 9mm....I have never had a problem. The G17, Hi-Power and P228 eat it up like mad.
In 45ACP, it seems to be loaded a tad lighter than Federal or Remington plain wrap but it still cycles fine in my 1911s and P220.
I have noticed in recent years that it has gotten filthier than it used to be. Federal Champion from Wally World is cleaner. Actually, WWB is about as filthy as the Russian steel cased ammo.
All the major maker's budget stuff seems to group about the same, though.
Not as dirty as the former Eastern Bloc stuff.
Have never had an issue with one WWB.
They shoot/cycle/load 2x better than the 4 boxes of tulls I had, Can't comment on the dirty aspect though. Mainly, because my gun already looked like a lake bottom after the tulls.
Going to switch to gold points though, same price and nothing but praise across the board.
I had a casing that was crimped to tight ( I assume). And it must have had a lip on the side where the bullet meets the casing and it caused a FTFeed. Then the round was stuck inside the chamber and 1 whack with a rubber mallet got it out. I choose not to buy it anymore but that was after about 1000 rounds. So no I do not like it but federal is $1.00 cheaper anyways so I just buy that.
I've put 800 rounds through my 9mm. The only problems I've had is poor aim or trigger jerk. I wish I could blame it on the ammo .
