I agree completely on the 380, as I said above it's for things like church where I can only pocket carry.

One of my keys to selecting a 380 is being accurately dump a mag in a second or 2 and keep it center mass, bottom line for me as much as I liked my Kahr, I can dump the LCP 2 mag faster and more accurately due to the trigger. If I ever had to pull the 380 to save my life given it's marginal performance I'd likely dump the mag - so I need to know it will hit what I'm shooting at.

Plus with the last shot slide lock back on the LCP 2 I can reload with a fresh mag pretty quick.

    Yeah, no.

Very, very few .380 JHP's can consistently pass the 12" mark while also showing good (over .50) expansion.

There's numerous 9mm rounds that will.

    I'd much prefer a .38 over a .380...

Nice write up, Snap. I still have an odd urge to get an itty-bitty .380 and possibly retire the Colt .25 from "covert carry" duty (since it turns 100 this year...); the LCP was off the list, but the -2 might be worth considering.

The 2 is vastly improved - my only remaining ***** is with the sights. The trigger really is good and the texture and shape helps hold the gun a lot better.

I'd consider a .380 as a pocket gun for when I'm riding the motorcycle. The G43 isn't huge but I'm not sure I consider it a pocket gun for my build and circumstances. I'm not sure if I consider the our LCR as a pocket gun either. Even with the boot grip....

As for the P238, it's a great shooting gun and the trigger really smoothed up after 100-200 rounds but I'm just not into safeties on a carry gun. YMMV.

How about throwing out the jhp and use fmj in a 380 if penetration is a concern?

I'll get ya before Cuda because I'm nicer. Still doesn't cover the expansion issue. .380 is .38 inches (which I know you knew just making sure you follow) so it doesn't cover the .50 expansion. I also have an irrational fear of fmj over penetration.

And no offense meant to Cuda. Now maybe he will make fun of me for what I missed lol
