Are you kidding me?! They allow the piece of crap that is the Ridgeline, but not a regular ol' F150?

    HOA's are horrible, HORRIBLE organizations.

This is why I'll never live anywhere that has a HOA. You get people with little dictator syndrome.

So legally, can a HOA actually force you to move if you dont abide by their rules? Whats the purpose and pr need of a HOA to begin with?

I think they can. It's a contract that you agree to when you move in.

The purpose of a HOA is for all the little Napoleon-complex people out there

The HOA can file a suit against you, but they can't just make you move on their own.

I'll never live in an area with an HOA. Just won't happen. Too much BS to wade through, and the president is always some old prick who's stuck in the 50's.

Anyone see the thread on VW Vortex about the guy who got his car booted by his HOA? What a fantastic job that guy did...he bent those morons over and had his way with them.

We can lament about it all we want, but he's the one that moved into that neighborhood and agreed to live under the HOA's domestic code. Wrong as it is, he placed himself into a legally binding contract.

HOA's have become really popular in the DFW areas, especially in the areas around Southlake, Colleyville, and Frisco. Theyre near cities that arent nearly as economically advantaged, and they love to flaunt it by having picture perfect neighborhoods and shopping centers. HOA's are a means to that end.

As uncaring as it sounds......you moved in there, now deal with it. HOAs or well known all over the country for crap like this. Florida has to be the worst. There was a similar case to this in Fla recently. It turned out that the HOA had control of what was parked in the drive way but the streets were county maintained and the HOA had no say so the homeowner just parked his truck inn the street in front of his house instead of in his driveway. Another case involving a boat and parking overnight had one homeowner calling and reporting his neighbor when all that was happeing was on the night prior to fishing he would park his boat at his house hooked up to the truck ready for an early departure. The boat owner started lookinng for HOA loopholes and tortured his neighbor till the calls stopped. One of his torture devices included using a can air, air horn to scare crickets out of his flowers at 9am (yard work allowed after 9am). No one could say a word since it was after 9. I laighed like hell when I read abbout the air horn cricket control. How much would that suck outside your window at 9 oclock sunday morning

Anyway my point was, you bought the house, you agreed to the terms of the HOA....deal with it or move.

HOA's have their purpose. We are not part of one in our subdivision and it drives me to insanity when I drive by people's houses and they don't take care of their yard, house, bushes, etc. I spend a lot of time, effort, and money to make our house/yard look nice. Then, you get some redneck neighbor who lets the grass get to knee-length and full of dandelions before whacking it all down and letting the "hay" lay on top the grass to kill it.

I agree they can be abused and the wrong people can get in charge, but isn't that the case with anything? We're looking for a reasonable HOA in our next neighborhood. One that doesn't take things to the extreme.
