Now that I know my XD .45 is utterly reliable, I want to put some night sights on it. Springfield Armory has a really great deal going: you can get Springfield Custom (whatever those are) tritium night sights, Trijicon 3-dots, or Heinie SlantPro "Straight 8" sights, for $95 plus shipping. Aside from the really good price compared to buying my own & paying to have them installed, it's done by the people who know the XD best. After a local would-be gunsmith mutilated my Springfield 1911, I don't trust anyone but Springfield themselves to work on my XD. Thing is, I can't make up my mind between the Heine "Straight 8s" and the Trijicon 3-dot set. I have a Trijicon 3-dot green set on my 1911, and Glock factory tritiums on my Glock 30 (possibly OEM by Meprolight), which are also green 3-dot configuration. So, I'm leaning toward the Trijicon 3-dot green setup. That Said, the Heine "align the 2 dots" concept seems like a good idea as well. I guess the only way to really know would be to shoot XDs with both, in dark conditions, but that isn't likely. Have you had Springfield install night sights on your XD .45? Which ones, and what do you see as the pros/cons of the various options?
