    Hey Guys,

I'm a brand new XDM owner. Bought the 3.8" Compact .45 model on Friday, and was lucky enough to get to shoot it that same day. I've really enjoyed the gun so far, and my plan is to make it my ccw.

As far as handguns go, I also own a Rock Island Tactical 1911, which I bought about a year ago. It's been a great gun so far (very reliable, easy to shoot, and it's a tack driver in the right hands).

Although I am somewhat new to handguns, I grew up hunting. I'm definitely enjoying the transition from shotguns & rifles to handguns, and I'm glad that my first two pistols are such great guns.

Anyway I look forward to learning a bit from this forum (apart from the weeks of research I did before buying the gun), and I hope I can contribute some of I know.

Welcome to the forum! I'm very similar in that I grew up hunting with a shotgun and doing a lot of plinking with a .22 rifle and have only had handguns for a few years. I bought a XDm .40 compact a few weeks ago for my CCW and am loving it.

Yeah, growing up in rural Louisiana there was a lot of opportunity to hunt. I mostly hunted deer, but occasionally would hunt squirrels, turkeys, or whatever else was in season. My brother's have been trying to get me into duck hunting, but with my new pistols there isn't much extra money left over for that.

Oh, I also just bought a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe so I can concealed carry.
