Hey i just bought an xd40 subcompact today and noticed the magazines get extremely hard to load with my bare hands the last couple rounds. should i leave both of them loaded for a while to break in the spring? and how long? thanks everyone!

I'm about to give you some of the best advice you'll ever get for loading pretty much ANY pistol mag!!!! Buy an UPLULA mag loader!!!! You'll thank me for the rest of your life! lol Here is the website to look at it. http://www.maglula.com/?page_id=99 Price shop around, preferably with some of the site sponsors. I think they're around $25 or so if I remember correctly. These things are an absolute must in my and most others opinions. They'll keep you from tearing your fingers off loading mags and work extremely well! There are many vids on youtube, just search for uplula. I also have a LULA loader for my pmags that I use in my ar-15 and it's an absolute must too. They make them for some other rifle mags also. the main website is maglula.com if you want to look at some other mag loaders.

All XD mag springs are extremely tight and that's a good thing. They get easier with use.

Oh, and +1 on the UpLULA.

    2) factory loader (works fine for me)
    3) man up and grow a grip! :)

Just store then with as many rounds as you can get in. Wait a week or so and add another round until you get to full capacity. I always store my weapons with one less than full capacity any way. At least two mags for each hand gun is loaded for a manure hit the fan scenario.

Mine loosed up after about loading and firing 500 rounds through each of them. I don't need a mag loader anymore.
