Now I like the idea of a single stack .45. but don't understand how it weighs more than the compact and you lose 4 rounds of magazine capacity. Are the magazines proprietary or are the standard 1911 mags for the option of higher capacity on a reload. I get the whole trade off with give and take for a smaller frame but for it to weigh more and give up 4 rnds. in compact configuration I dont know if im sold... Anyone that has more input on the specifics on magazines id love to get the lowdown...

Springfield you have disappointed us all. How dare you give us the gun we have been begging for but make it marginally heavier than my key chain. Shame on yall. Guess you should just sell it for $400 and be thankful if anyone is remotely interested.

the gun is heavier because springfield decided to make it that way guys, it's not that they couldn't make it lighter, it's not some magical mystery, plus the weight helps in importation and recoil management. They probably could have made it lighter, especially if they made in it the US, but they didn't. they probably added weight in places where they shaved it on the full size models, possibly a denser metal on the slide to help make it heavier and stronger, maybe even a denser polymer, again to add weight and strength.
