New to the XD platform, Just purchased my first XD pistol. I purchased a new XD 4" black service model 9mm but have yet had time to clean or shoot it.

I had a M&P 40 for years and own several Sigs but this one seems a little different on take down. I was reading through my manual but it did not give any oiling or greasing tips such as where to oil and where to grease. I'm curious as to what most of you using on the XD for lube. I'm kinda partial to Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil on most of my guns especially my ARs along with a little good gun grease here and there. A very little.

Second, I just purchased a new hunting rifle and I'm still in the process of breaking in or some say seasoning the barrel as to me it seems to help on accuracy. I was sitting there last night looking at my new pistol and was thinking would this be something to be done on a pistol? Anyone done this before to a pistol barrel? Just wondering as if it helps a rifle barrel, why not a pistol.

Anyone have any thoughts on trying this?

Frog lube on my SA's and M&P's but I use Castrol full synthetic on other pistols, rifles and shotguns. Whatever floats your boat!

welcome to the forum. The XD9 Service was my first pistol.

I just use a little Hoppe's lube oil and hit the main areas, pretty much the same as with most pistols. . .outer barrel, inner slide surfaces, recoil spring, rails, etc. . .

just make sure you keep the striker and striker channel clean and DRY!

XD's don't need much in the lube department.

I've used Mobil 1 on mine as well as other brand name quality gun lubes, all without any issues.

Clean and lube varies with just about every person. When in LE we used Break Free and I've been using it ever since. it's always worked well for me.

I got the same gun back in 09' and it's been running perfectly after over 2000 rounds and is my EDC in a Crossbreed Quick Clip holster. I've got other pistols but this one is my most reliable.

I have recently taken to Frog Lube and like it after years of CLP, Rem Oil and Hoppe's.

I'm looking into a new XDs9 for my pocket or IWB and remembered that I joined this forum way back when. Great place for info.

If you don't love it I'll be surprised. I've run a few hundred rounds through mine of all different brands without a problem. Recently I started reloading my own and that gun spit out my first 100 rounds like butter!
