    Hi Everyone,

I just want to let everyone know that Dawson Precision just came out with their tool-less extended basepad for the XDm.

I just got and tested one. It works great! Using the factory follower, I get 22 Rounds of 9mm in the magazine now. Feeds and functions fine. The basepad is very secure but comes off very easily without tools for cleaning and maintainence.

If you use a Grams follower you can probably squeeze in 23 rounds of 9mm.

    Pics Below.

And it fits with the Pistolgear Operator Magwell

Just put the magwell on my 9 and 40. Also put the extentions on my 19rd 9mm mags to see how they work. Took them out for a test run and they work great. Orderingmag extentions for the 40 now.

Side note on the mag extentions. When I received them it said there may be some filing need for a good fit. I didnt have to do a thing.

How much does it hold in .40 w/ the extension?

Havent got the extentions for the 40 yet but it says 3 to 4 for 9/40 so Im guessing at least 3. With a 16rd mag that will make 19+1 just like the 5.25 9mm. I got 3 in the 9 without forcing them so it has 22+1 for the 5.25. Sweet.

If you get a follower from Grams Engineering, you can get another round in the magazine. It will not lock the slide back though on empty. Just an FYI.

Im ok with the 22 and one in the pipe. I would rather have the slide lock back on the last round.

Probably a dumb question, but will this work with the factory extension on a 3.8 compact?

How's the durability of this piece, compared to the Arredondo?

Yes this magazine takes it out of USPSA production class. You will have to shoot limited as it is a 140mm magazine. It is also NOT legal for any class in IDPA.

co0311 This should work with the XDm 3.8 extended compact magazine, but I havent tried it. The 3.8 extended magazine is just a normal XDm magazine. The sleeve should fit it, but again I am not 100% sure.

TSiWRX - I don't have the arredondo ones, but I have dropped this Dawson one many times so far with no issues. Keep in mind my experience is limited to only Action Pistol Sports. I drop them on a stage, but when finished, I clean it and double check before the next stage. The locking mechanism is very sturdy though, and doesn't require any tools to take off.

Dawson Precision has a long reputation for quality products for the Competition Shooting arena.

Cool beans - thank you for that! :)

I think I'll order a couple to play with, as soon as my fun-money replenishes.

I don't compete (yet), but I do take a fair share of training classes. I'd like to have a couple of mags that have a few extra shots in them.

    Thanks again.
