Saw one of these in WalMart today. It had an 18.5 inch barrel, and cost $160 dollars. Don't think I can pass that up. I think I'll swing by sometime this week and pick it up.

    Questions-

    1. I'm looking online for some aftermarket stuff - rear pistol grip, forend grip. I notice a distinct absence of such items for the Pardner, yet there are an abundance of such things for Mossberg 500 and Remington 870. I've read that 870 aftermarket parts work on the NEF, but want to confirm this before I buy.

    2. Some of the grips and forends I'd like are listed as 12 gauge. Can they also work on 20 gauge or do I need to look for specific 20 gauge designated items?

    3. How does 20 gauge stack up to 12 gauge as a home defense round? Can it get the job done?

NEF is a solid shooter for sure and I pretty sure most stocks do swap over but cant speak of the forend. 20 can and will get it done but nothing beats a 12. If your that concerned about it look into the Maverick 88 as it runs around the same in price and in 12ga and you can use everything Mossberg except Forends.( you can with some modifications.)

So I could probably take a "12 gauge" forend/grip and put it on a 20? Do they use similar forends?

The reason NEF appeals is because of the short barrel. Maverick is 28'

I bought the HR pardner pump protector, the 18 1/2" version. It is a 12 guage and was $160 at cheaper than dirt. Why not just get the 12 guage? The 870 furniture will go on the pardner, now i'm not sure about the 870 stuff fitting on the 20 guage.

http://www.a2zoutdoors.com/h&r_accessories.htm <-these have some 20ga specific items...it appears 410-12ga will fit em all

Since its not a massive common platform...might have difficulty making "tacticool" accessories a bear to find

A 20ga 00buck should be almost as effective as stopping a badguy as a 12ga...minus maybe 2 or 3 pellets but MUCH more controllable (especially for smaller statue folks)

20ga isn't bad but it's MUCH more limited in the defense loads available.

I wanna say the Pardner is a Chinese copy of a Reminton 870.

I had on in 12 gauge it was amazing took my first turkey with it. shoots great and straight!!! for the 200$ brand new it cant be beat!!! some 870 stocks and forends will work but not all they are mostly the same gun!!! the trigger groups and internals will not work!!! if you want to pay about 400$ buy an 870!

    Oh man...that's AWESOEM!!

    1. A Yewt model is small...very good for small stature people such as kids and ladies, no need to go all aftermarket and put pistol grips on it (if you look the "stock" when the shotgun is fired low is actually the proper angle vs and pistol grip geometry wise

    http://pistol-grip-only-shotgun-technique.4t.com/Pistol_Grip_Only_Shotgun_Technique.html <- P.S. VEEEERY interesting site!

    2. I think they should work..but unsure...do your homework and don't get burned

    3. I guarandangtee that you put a 20Ga 00Buck shell into badguys chest...he ain't gonna stand there with his hands on his hips and with a gay lisp go "oh no you dideent just shoot me with a 20 gauge"

everything I've heard about the pardner pump has been good and I've heard that most 870 stocks and furniture will fit on it! I'm excited to see how they shoot. I just purchased one today for $194 in 12ga. I used to have a beautiful 870 desert tac recon but I had to sell it in hard times. but I think this will be a suitable fill in :)

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but can you please tell me what stock you put on the Pardner Pump?
    Thanks.

The Pardner Protector in 12 ga. is my home defense shotgun. It's not pretty - some of the metalwork and finish is shabby, but it shoots well and it won't break the bank. The real beauty of this gun is aftermarket parts for the 870 fit it. Everything but the barrel. It's a little heavier than the Maverick so it doesn't kick too badly.

I have a full stock with a pistol grip and a standard forestock. For me, this offers the more flexibility and controlability. I still have the standard 5 round mag on it, but when I can find a 7 round for the right price, that's getting swapped out. Got a laser with a grip switch mounted on the top of the receiver.
