Well, i decided i need a better scope for my savage .17 hmr. It has a bull barrel, so it is for target and varmint, i would like it under 250. I was thinking bushnell fixed 10x40 w/ target turrets. Any suggestions would be great.

I picked one of these up a while back to put on my Marlin 917VST just to see what they were about. I have been INCREDIBLY surprized about how well this thing performs. Especially since i kinda expected it to fall appart cause of the low price.
Now i cant speak for its ability to resist recoil as i have never had it on anything bigger than my 17. But for 2.5K+ at 150 yards it hasnt lost its 0 (easily all under a dime)
    Just my .02

Oh, and yes the bushnell is a nice scope also. cant really go wrong with that.

This is what I have on my Savage 93R17. Sub 1" groups at 100 yards and we were actually shooting the heads off of snapping turtles on my friend's pond at 150 yards + with this rifle. (Make sure you have a good backdrop before attempting this one)

You can find this scope for under $200.00, get some good rings to go with it too.

I mounted an inexpensive Simmons 6.2-20x40mm on my Marlin VST and it works great. There was no justification for me to mount a $500+ scope on a rimfire and Cabelas had a sale on the Simmons for around $100. You can get them for $129 or so and they are clear, pretty bright considering the price of the piece and it has held zero for several years.

We have fun shooting competitions at our hunting club and I take joy in shooting the thumbtacks that are holding others' targets onto the backrest with my .17. We also shoot the primers out of spent shotgun cartridges at 100 yards with it and it's deadly on squirrels at 125 yards (after deer season we squirrel hunt and I sit in a box stand and take Kennedy shots on 'em as they grab some leftover deer corn). It's going to be used for foxes and some short range coyote hunting in a few weeks as well.

Another option.....Sportsman's Guide is selling a line of scopes that are labeled "Federal Intensity" that I believe are made by or with Weaver.
I just received a 3-10 x 44 and it is crystal clear and bright. It was $45 with my club discount. They also offer aspherical versions for under $90 as well.

    Here is one for $320.00.

I have two of them and have tested them well. It's a great performer and a good price.

    SWFA-SS-10x42

    SWFA SS 10x42 Tactical Riflescope

    I currently use them on a 270wsm and a 308.

I have not used the one you listed to make a comparison.

I have heard nothing but rave reviews on the mueller. You should consider it.

I have the variable version of the bushnell scope you are thinking about. It's on my 20" ar-15, I have been very impressed with it. I'm sure the 10x would perform well for you.

Little late to the party. Buddy of mine has a BSA sweet 17 with AO, and that is one sweet scope. Comes with interchangeable turrets depending on the grain of bullet you are using.

Thinking of picking up the Sweet 22 for my 10/22

Oh yhea, you can find them for under $100
