Thank you for the range suggestions I have been to Horst and McCann and to Continental in hunt valley. Continental is where I got my pistol. I plan to go to Freestate but haven't been yet. I got my HQL CLASS with a guy I know in Hickory and plan to go to him for my CCW class next week. He is independent of a range. Maybe we will run into each other at freestate.

Talked to a buddy that works for one of the big three. 2 years ago he wrote a letter of recommendation for a professor at UMD that had been getting death threats from a former student and his family.

The MSP application had questions on it such as

How often do you carry in excess of 10k in cash

Have you filed more than 3 police reports in the last year because you were the victim of a violent crime

Woman in her 50's. No criminal record. Professor at a public university getting death threats that were so serious the FBI investigated. A letter of recommendation from a special agent that worked the case. She was denied a carry permit.

Unless Gov Hogan relaxes some of the archaic laws civilians have to abide by the best bet you've got to carry a gun is become a cop or move to a different state.

Sadly, I saw the title to this thread

and heard this in my mind:

States like MD, NJ, NY and CA make me mourn our Constitutional rights

Ok so I had to reschedule my class and took it about two weeks ago. I got sick a couple times and had a lot of work to get done. The class was "MD wear and carry" and Utah CCW. I am going to complete both applications next week. I have spoken with several MD permit holders and they said it is not as hard as some say it is. I am encouraged at this point. I'll let you know how it goes.

Not worth the hassle... MD is enemy territory

What's funny to me is how many felons in the state get released soon after firearms charges or other violent offenses and continue to carry illegally. Same thing happens in DC.

My advice is to get in excellent physical shape, learn hand to hand, and maintain good situational awareness in bad spots

Fyi- I had someone put a gun to my head in an elevator in the greater DC area... Guy got out like 4 months later or something

jail... back on the streets just like that. i know better than to hit someone whos got a weapon to my head in an enclosed area like an elevator, just as i wouldn't ever try to draw on them either.

I find it hysterical watching morbidly obese middle aged guys going back and forth on the carry weapons etc when i doubt they could walk up a flight of stairs without getting short of breath; and i would bet a reasonably fit 12 year old child could overpower them and take their weapon. physical training is critical to defending yourself and others.
