My first gun, an XD-9 Service, is a nice pistol. But since then I bought an XD-45 Service, and I've found I shoot that gun much better than the -9.

It's not a problem with the gun--I've found the larger dimensions of the -45 just fit my hand better for whatever reason. Was at the range this pm and it's incredibly easy to hold the sight on target with the -45, but much worse with the 9mm.

I've been looking for a way to at least semi-permanently increase the 9's grip girth to approximate the -45. I'd tried a Hogue grip which was ok, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd also seen that Dan at Powder River Precision does a grip reduction with a nice stippling effect (http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/general-hs2k-sa-xd-talk/128527-grip-xd.html#post2100906), but that's a grip reduction, not an increase. To bad there's not a way to increase it.

Anyone have a good idea for how to bring that 9mm grip up to about the dimensions of the -45? It's driving me nuts how much better I shoot that -45 than the 9mm.

Check out the Hogue Handalls. They have some with a palm swell. Might be just the ticket.

Grip tape...skateboard tape..I put a Hogue handall or whatever on my wife's subcompact 9mm. She likes it. don't get the junior size...it will split.

p.s. I know you said you tried it but it is really good..on another note you can get a stipple job but that won't really increase the girth...PM me for contact info on a guy who does great stipple jobs.

Bondo. Slap it on, sand it down to how you want it.

Have you bothered to actually measure the differences?

Not only have I "bothered" to do so, I evaluated a number of potential options which which I might alter the girth of the grip.

What I want is a grip on the 9mm that feels just like the 45. They're not the same.

Tape might be the best next option as I should be able to approximate the 45's grip pretty well. Then I'd know.

The Hogue isn't bad, it's just not the ticket for me.
