I just had my Citadel Compact treated w/ black nitride from H&M Metal, Welcome to H & M Metal Processing. It is awesome, not only does it look great by it is a durable finish as well. You can read all the specs on the coating online, so I won't bore you w/ them. I will tell you that it is a black silking feeling w/ a satin look. I had the entire gun done except any springs and the trigger. They took less than two weeks and it's great. I went to the range yesterday and put 100 LRN through her and the barrel only took a couple of passes of the brush to clean, a vast improvement. If you call them, ask for Shade he's the gun guy and he is a gun guy. He can answer any questions you could have and they do any gun you want done. I had a Kimber Gold Match that I had hard chromed and I like this even better. Here are some pics mine. [IMG][IMG]

I would've posted one of the other side, but I couldn't edit the sn out. Sorry

    Nice!!!

    So this is basically melonite.
    How much did it cost?
I'll have to look into them for finishing my winter project.

I like it! Looks really good. I prefer a carry piece to have a dark finish like you went with. The durability and ease of cleaning sound like a plus as well.

Your pictures don't do it justice. Black nitride is an incredible finish and very durable for sure. I , like you love it and I understand your excitement over it but until most see it in person they won't truly understand just how nice a good black nitride finish looks, feels and wears.

Nice job, you know have a gun that should last a long time.

Sorry, It took me so long to reply. The guys at Blacknitride.com have a minimum of $200 so they did the entire gun and all it's parts (except anything w/ spring tension) and a J frame cylinder that had some pitting. I'm not quite sure what the process is but I know they took the parkarizing off then treated the metal w/ the nitride finish. Mine is still going strong and I highly recommend it.

Go to Blacknitride.com for more info. There is a lot of tech data there that I don't understand.

That looks really good. Its tempting to send my 226 in and have it done. $200 isn't too bad since it sounds like you have quite a bit done.

He also does Barrels, choke, magazines, bolts and you misc. parts for the handgun are include in the 60$ price.. The reason it is so cheap is because he is an independent doing guns doesnt mean he dont provide a great product as well as a cheap price. If your paying 200 for 1 gun your getting ripped because that means you went through a big company and the only way they can make their money off of you is by doing a min. charge of that high sorry. The finish does look good though, nothing against it.

Freedom Gunworks does the same finish, but called Atranite. They did the slide on my STI Spartan and it came out great. FGW link in my sig below.
