    quick question for you all.
is there any problem with leaving M1A magazines loaded for an extended period of time?

Should be fine as long as they are good mags such as USGI or CMI. Like your pistol mags the way the springs are designed they will lose strength from constant compression and extension, not staying compressed. So as long as you don't sit there and load/unload your mags constantly they should be fine. Even if you did it would take A LOT of effort to get them to the point where they would need to be replaced.

sorry, i should have clarified, i am not worried about the springs, i understand the concept on how they wear. i was more concerned with the feed lips on the magazine. i know i have heard issues of some magazine's lips warping when left fully loaded.

i keep all my xd/xdm/1911 magazines full as i find it an convenient way to store ammo along with having them ready if needed. i wanted to do the same with my m1a.

    thanks in advance.

The AR15's crap design strikes again.

Just because the AR15 is afflicted with many ailments doesn't mean they affect other firearms.

    Hatorade, drink up!

Feed lips on any magazine can get damaged. Also, if it was AR15 magazine specific, Magpul has corrected the problem with its magazines and magazine covers. It's cool though, I get it, haters gonna hate. Meanwhile I'll be shooting my AR15s enjoying the accuracy, reliability, and excellent ergonomics.

Yes long term can cause feed lips to become weak.

Storing them loaded will not hurt the springs or the feed lips.

Just do not drop them on their feed lips and you will be fine.

Army stored them loaded for years no issues.

I have stored my loaded for years, no issue.
