Just ordered it from buds gun shop. This will be my first gun, and I can't wait to get it and go to the range. I have been to the range a few times, but I still consider myself a newbie :). Any suggestions for a new gun owner? Any service I should perform on a brand new gun?
    thanks guys

Just a basic clean and oil. Read the manual and make sure you know how it works.

Congrats on the new gun! That is the gun I chose as my first gun also. I love it. It had to go back to the manufacturer though because it was misfeeding about every 3rd round. But it is back now and after about 200 rounds through it, not one misfeed. Good Luck! My advice for your new gun: Shoot it lots. ;)

Like Navy said.. just clean it, oil it and shoot the hell out of it. Which model did you get? 3.8, 4.5, 5.25 etc..

This is the same gun I just bought a few days ago. Its the second member of the "XD series" family to join my collection.. got a feeling it wont be the last lol. You're gona love this gun, the included adjustable backstraps are a option worth checking out for a better "fit" in your hand. Love my XD service model, but theres just something about this 3.8 XDM Im fallin' in love with lol.

I've got the exact gun as well. Got it at the first of the year...got a little over 1200 rounds through it as of the middle of February. Not a single failure of any kind.

Started shooting it new out of the box without any cleaning, etc. on the day I got it. My Texas CHL should be here next week and this will be my everyday carry...love this gun.

Congrats on the purchase. If your experience is like mine, you will love it!

Just shoot it a lot and stay safe!

Lucky! I only live like 2 hours from there, but I am in Ohio, so I can't buy anything from there. They require Kentucky ID.

I've bought other guns since my XD9sc, but I always go back to it. It's definitely my favorite. Never a fail to fire/eject or anything. Absolutely love it.

Congrats on the purchase I too bought my xdm 9 compact from buds. Sure you will love it. I highly recommend Pearce grip extensions for the 13 rd mag. Only mistake I made was getting 1 to try it out. After first range trip I bought 3 more so all my short mags would have one. Plus at $7 it is well worth it.

lol. Don't forget about the DROS fee, handgun safety certificate and all the other nonsense :p

It's almost worse when a state has an instant background check -- and then you get a delayed response  (Being delayed is not the same as being denied)
