I noticed several Iver Johnson 1911s at a local shop. Not a bad looking entry level 1911 priced about like a RIA. I looked on the net and the reviews look ok. Anybod got one and are shooting it? What do you think?

nice write up. Looks like it might be ok after some of the bugs are worked out.

Wow...how many other makers will be putting their name on the Armscor made 1911s and bring them in to the country?

(at least they did not ugly it up with a stainless bushing...whats up with a stainless bushing on a blued or parked 1911? Thats ugly if you ask me)

Odd that they named it the "Trojan" since STI already has that name out there for a while. Hell....why not just call it the Iver Johnson Combat Commander and get it over with! LOL

Seriously, I'd skip it and buy the RIA. The Iver Johnson test showed many problems (hello...1980s Colts!) and if you peruse the 1911 boards, you will find tons of people that own RIA guns with zero problems.

Back in the day, Iver Johnson guns were not really known for being spectacular, anyways.

I say skip it...you can find RIA 1911s in the same price range.

Iver Johnsons are not made by Armscor.

    They're SAM.

+1 on the Rocks. I had a few problems in the first 50 rounds with my Rock GI model. After those 50 I've had "0" problems since I switched from the Act Mag. that came with it to Wilson Combat mags.

In that pic of the IJ pistol, that slide lock and thumb safety look huge. Other than that it's not a bad looking pistol. I have to abmit though I am partial to GI models.

The slide release lever is large. Everything else is standard for an enhanced 1911.
