I purchased a new xds 45 a couple weeks ago, but due to weather/work/flu I hadn't got to shoot it before my CCW class. I was really worried with all of the posts about light strikes/feeding problems and I was going to be shooting my new xds for the first time at the CCW class.

I got to shoot about 50 rounds in class with 0 problems. My only complaint is those grips are almost painful with the aggressive texture/cold weather. I'll probably get something to soften the grip soon and maybe order some 7 round mags.

Just like with about anything else, there's thousands upon thousands of XDS owners who haven't had issues, but of course we mostly see the negative things mentioned since people who aren't having problems don't always post about it. Glad yours didn't fail you.

I agree with you on the grips. I've got some Talon rubber ones coming, so hopefully those will help. Cheap and a lot of people seem to like them.

Congrats on your purchase. And Welcome!
Try PRP extreme grip or Talon.
I have the PRP and found that it helps quite a bit.

Congrats! Enjoy your new toy! Btw... How did it end up shooting? Pretty smooth... Easy to handle the recoil?

Try a light sanding with fine sand paper to gently break just the sharp edges. My PF9 rubbed a blister on my trigger finger when I first got it. Had a sharp ridge where grip was moulded. Sand paper=problem gone. Just don't get carried away with the sanding.

I too had problems with the grip on my XDM. I find my solution to work pretty well, and it will not peel off like a simple decal. It is a childs bike tube($3.50). Look at my signature pic below. I should be able to get about 15-25, out of one tube. It is almost as good as a Hogue grip.

I used my XDs to qualify for my CCW last Sunday. No problems and qualified without a hitch. I have talon grips installed which are nice and I used a 7 round magazine to give me the extra grip. My only problem now is finding Ammo!

    Hi, and welcome!

My personal opinion about small carry guns is that they are not to be shot often. They are not range guns by any means. Your experience should validify that pointedly.

True, but it needs to be comfortable enough to practice with. IMO you should still throw a bunch down range with it to get comfortable with how to use it, so if you have to pull its like second nature.
