Since IO horror stories seem to be the norm here lately I figure I'll add mine to the mix. This pistol hasn't gotten through a 3 shot string to date and will be going back (if they ever answer my emails).

Here's the video showing the problems:

The gas isn't the issue. It just moves the carrier enough to release the pressure the carrier has on the bolt and the blow back does the rest. An AK will cycle without the gas tube installed as long as there is just enough gas to get the carrier moving. 3/16"-1/4" is all that is needed. I swear something looks bent.

If you wanna test the gas, throw on an AKSU flash hider ( the big 4 piece bucket) or an AK 102/104/105 booster. That will increase the amount of gas quite a bit.

+1 those HAVE to be on there to cycle the AK74U carbines/pistols. There isn't enough blowback otherwise. I bet with one of those on it would work just fine.

The pricing from the email blast always look so sexy, but then I have to remind myself it's an IO product. I'd stick with the Yugo PAP over this one.

Then its not a gas issue. Its an interference issue.

Perhaps. I need to take a photo of the way the gas enters the port on this gun though so everyone can see what I'm talking about but it's odd. It looks like an East German STG2000 bas block but the gas enters through the middle of the block rather than at the bottom like on a normal AK... :?:

Not sure that it makes a difference either way but it just seems odd to me.

I get what you're saying. Makes me think now that maybe the there is a 90* passage in the block to a 45* port in the barrel?? Too many turns/resistance?? I noticed in your video that the bolt/bolt carrier was dragging on something before it went into battery in the first malfunction. It was returning in slow motion. That along with the rub marks on the to of the bolt carrier makes me think that the front trunnion is out of alignment with the receiver.

I'm not 100% on it as it could just be a weird angle but it sure looks like it's 90 degrees from where it's located in the block.

wow, i never thought i would see an ak malfunction like that. You see those somali pirates with rusted pieces of junk that shoot better than that.

I'm certainly going to ask. As to whether they'll tell me is anyone's guess...
