Attached you will find a photo of a non-typical buck killed by Rob McCarley of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]Circleville</st1:City>,<st1:State w:st="on">Ohio</st1:State>. The buck was killed on Monday, December 8 with a longbow on private property in <ST1:p<st1:placeName w:st="on">Franklin</st1:placeName> <st1:placeName w:st="on">County</st1:placeName></ST1:p, and green scored 220. Over the years, McCarley has kill 7 deer that would qualify for Buckeye Big Buck Club, two of which were over 185 (now 3 will be over 185).

And a longbow at that. I'm into traditional archery as well, and it's always cool to hear about the trophies taken with traditional means. Just some wood, string, and a good broadhead.

He's kind of used to it, taken now 8 Ohio record book bucks (170 or better) and now 3 over 185 B/C. I don't know him but my friend who owns land where I sometimes hunt does know this person.

Sounds like he is hunting the same genetic line!

Wish I had some private land that held deer like this... WOW!

Damn, that looks like antlers with a little bit of deer attached to them >.>

I never understood why people want to kill the biggest deer they can. Doesn't killing all of the big ones take that genetic material out of the population? Shouldn't they kill all the tiny ones so that they will all become cows over time?

I'm sure that this boy has passed on a few genes in his lifetime. I don't think I would pass on this bad boy myself. :D

Depending on how old the deer is after about 6 or 7 years their teeth start to wear out and they start to decline. As big as he is he definately passed on some genes in his time. Can't really tell just from the head pic how old he is.
