I didn't know Steyr made a 1911... Looks like a new offering in the future. All metal, double stack, 9mm striker, with a 1911 style trigger. download.jpg
Looks like the release announcement will be tomorrow. For now, there are some articles out there on it.

Agreed. The maxim 9 has a reason to be ugly though. This is just ugly to deceive you into thinking it somehow has a magically low bore axis.

I was given the option to pre-order I declined.. granted that was before pictures. I personally do not feel I'm rich enough to be an early adopter in the gun industry, maybe in november.

Agreed... I hope they sell it with a full-frame holster to cover it up...

Interesting, it's great to see manufacturers introducing new stuff with unique designs. What is the advantage placing the recoil rod/spring in the deep dust cover and well below the barrel?

It looks like they are doing it so they can get the grip as high as possible on the bore axis. I think it looks like a 1911 inspired future laser gun. I'm very interested in this gun and how it's going to play out. The real questions I have is how does it balance and, of course, reliability. If it works out well then I think it'll be a winner looks be damned. I mean, Glocks are ugly but they are everywhere.

I think the best feature is the 1911 style trigger. Bore axis on an all metal, full size double stack in 9mm isn't a huge concern for me.
