I tried to do a search and couldn't find anything.

I have Bore Snakes for 9mm, 12gauge, and recently .223. I've used the 9mm the most, and I was wondering what everyone does when they want to clean it?

How often do you clean your bore snakes, and how do you wash them?

I've washed mine before, but I wouldn't just throw it in the wash. I usually put mine inside a sock or something, so it doesn't get tangled up in the washer.

When I took a CCW class, the instructor touted bore snakes. His comment on cleaning it was: "You can put it through the washing machine. Just don't put it in with your wife's delicate stuff because the wire bristles will chew up her pantyhose. [pause] Don't ask me how I know about that."

I wash mine by hand in a bucket. I usually do it when they get pretty dirty. I should probably do it more often.

No reason to put it in the washing machine and get the residue you cleaned out of the guns on your clothes. Soap and a bucket will do the same thing. Or $15 and buy a new one- it's cheaper than golf.

If the residue from the boresnake got onto your clothes, wouldn't all the dirt from the clothes get on all the other clothes?

Use the washing machine. Go to walmart and buy a $3 washing bag for lingerie and some washing soda to boost your detergent. Wash them separate with double rinse on. Untangle if you washed more than one. Done!

I do the same thing.... Throw the boresnake(s) in a sock and put it in the washing machine on quick wash by itself. 15 minutes later hang it up to air dry and it's ready for more cleaning :D

good thread....ive been wondering how to clean the 12GA boresnake i have....why do they make it white?...it gets dirty so fast.

my 9mm snake dosent get nearly as dirty as the 12Ga one.

i will use the dish washing soap, and a scrub brush in a bucket method.
