Please don't get into politics (I'm just as disgusted as many of you). I don't want the moderators moving this thead to the RKBA forum.

I have been a shooter off and on my entire life for just over 50 years. I am in CT, and have for over 20 years told my wife I was not willing to move to MA or any other state where I am not allowed to carry (or it is extemely difficult to get a carry permit). She is not willing to move far away from MA (including ME NH or VT). So, depending on what happens in CT I might have to move by myself.

I am as disgusted by the AR15 bans, magazine limitations, etc that many of you are, but those alone will not force me to leave CT (even though I really don't like CT). I have lived in different countries, and have lived in different states. I am not wealthy. As a youth my family had money, and I was prep school educated. I have a degree. I generally, but not always, like hanging with "red necks" (or similar).

After the dust settles, if I can stay here I will. If I am not allowed to carry because of some stupid new law, then I will have to seriously examine leaving CT.

We don't know what is going to happen with many states, but based on what you know now what states are so gun friendly that bans etc are very unlikely?

Montana and Wyoming are absolutely gun friendly states. I would say Texas and Florida as well.

Colorado, well, lots of liberals here in the larger urban areas. Small towns are pretty cool, however. I am in Denver (city and county) and I did get my CWP, as it is a "shall issue" state. Although, you get in the same database as the bad guys, so when a cop runs your license-they know you have a permit.

At any rate, I hope things work out for you. :)

Montana here and I'd say it is a VERY gun friendly state.

I lived in Colorado in 1975. Aurora, Englewood, Conifer, Ft. Collins, Greeley. (Late teens ... moved around a bit).

Back then there were too many east coasters and Californians for my taste. It must be pretty bad now.

Never got up to Wyoming, but always wanted to check it out.

I feel for ya. My brother is in MA and is seriously pissed about some new legislation.

Regarding states.. Just watch the news. Texas is a good bet. No offense but since you're from the NE maybe a mid Atlantic state would be good climate and geography wise. Just a thought. Obviously, pick a red state.

    Hang tough.

I lived in the same areas around the same time but in 88 moved out when the liberal komifornians move in. Sold my house house to one and never looked back. My sister is there and when I visit I can barely stand it.

If you don't want to move very far, look into PA

Va. and Tenn. are pretty gun friendly. Over the past few yrs. Va. has gotten better , but their are a few bills being discussed right, but no talk of bans. Va. has two faces right now, the Area around D.C. and other urban areas, off set by the rest of the state.
VA. only requires proof of a basic firearms class and clean record for a permit.
The Shenadoah Valley and the piedmont area near the mountains are great places to live, central area of the state near the bay is nice too.

    Here's a story from today:http://washingtonexaminer.com/virgi...rks-gun-debate-on-house-floor/article/2518986

Lawmaker takes a AK 47 to the general Assembly.

It certainly hasn't gotten any better. Lots of Californians here now. And, "The People's Republic of Boulder" is a true statement. *sigh* I do like my job, however, and I do get into the mountains a bit. So, I'm here for a while-unless something comes up back home in Montana.
