I have an XDS in .45 with about 500 rounds through it. Recently I noticed that the guide rod protrudes about a quarter inch from the slide when the action is closed. I sent it back to the factory which maintains this is normal though my local gun shop says they haven't seen this before. I had been having some misfires (Federal American Eagle 230) and thought perhaps the spring was weak but SA says not. The factory made a minor adjustment on the breach end of the barrel to address the misfires but the protrusion issue is unresolved. Any ideas? Thanks.

Stand off device. Its like that so it doesn't get pushed out of battery.

Did that before. My gun's condition seems more pronounced. Here's a picture.

Well, 0.25" is a LARGE amount. Way more than my gun's belly button sticks out. I'd say maybe the wrong guide rod?

OP's picture does look a bit more protruding than most. I measured my XD40 at a 1/16th inch.

@Princetonian58 how about a perfectly profile pic with a ruler included?

I've got Guide Protrusion Envy. Mine don't seem to stick out that far. I got a 9mm thought so maybe it ain't suppose to. IDK
