Is the grip safety on the XDS supposed to lock the slide from movement before being depressed ? Mine doesn't...It locks the trigger but not the slide...Is this correct ? Thanks in advance..

    It only locks the trigger.

On the bigger xd and xdm it locks the slide.

Shoot, maybe I gave misinformation?? I'm pretty sure I don't have to depress the grip safety to slide back the slide... Not at home or I would go check! If I did my apologies.

You might be correct. I can not speak for an xds. Only the xd and xdm.

I had a buddy (he owns XD XDM) tell me my XDS slide should lock..Guess he figured the XDS is the same...That's why I had to ask...Mine doesn't lock the slide...Just the trigger...

Can't speak for XDs, but for reference, it definitely locks the slide on an XDm.

This is exactly right, only locks the trigger on the XDS. You can actually check out how the lock mechanism works with the slide off of the frame.

Just remember, the XD-S, while similar, is a different animal from the rest of the XD series and operates a little differently.

Instead of starting a new thread I figure I'll just ask here:

I plan to throw on a Handall Jr, and understand that one needs to cut out some of the rubber for the grip safety. However, I'm not interested in the grip safety. I've never had any safety's on my handguns and feel perfectly safe without it.

My question is: How effective would the Handall Jr be at covering up the safety to hold it down 24/7?
