OK, my uncle has a German Luger that he offered to sell for $350. Does this sound like a good idea? What is the true value of the gun?

I should have pictures in a day or two.

    Here is what I know:

    Condition: Decent 85%+
Caliber: 30 Luger or 7.65x21 or 22 (whatever the standard luger is)
Barrel: 4" lenghth (3" sticks out, measured)

It has DMW stamped on top of it. No date stamped anywhere on the gun at all. It has a code of 1428 and all the parts on the gun have a "28" on them. It has "Made in Germany" stamped on the side.

The safety latch says "Gesichert" (German for "Secured"). and there is a Crown with an "N" stamped above it on top or on the side (i forget><). There is also a cursive "M" in a couple different places on the gun. It has wood grips.

He though it was built somewhere in 1916 to 1920 and sold to commercial markets in the US. It does not have any Nazi markings or factory codes on it. I am pretty sure it was pre-1930 because it does not have an S/42 on it either.

Can anyone offer any insight as to what it is and what the value is? How hard is it to find this ammo? Can you still get bulk surplus?

    Thanks guys!!!

Snag it and say thank you, Lugers for below $1000 in any where close to 80% condition are a steal.

    Awesome!!!! A+!!!!

That site had everything! I am sure its a 1920 commercial probably valued on that site around $1400 which from their insane prices puts it about $800 in today's world if I were to buy it from a gun shop! I will let him know to ask me first if he ever wants to sell it!

Maybe this is the military/history buff in me, but I would jump on the chance to get a luger for that price, and wouldn't even consider getting rid of it. YMMV

I would buy any Luger for $350. That is one cool pistol that I would love to add to my humble collection. I'd make sure I was his favorite nephew. :p

I have one. A 7mm, commercial, probably with no value history but... it is real fun to shoot. It's VERY accurate. The action is different. Either way, get it. If it's not worth a whole lot, you won't mind taking it out and using it. Hey ,by the way... This is my first visit & post on this site. HELLO EVERYONE. I was actually surfing to find info on some rifles. While I'm here I'll ask if anyone has input on a PTR 91 and the FULTON ARMORY FAR .308's ?
