I'm not sure if this has been covered in any of the other threads or not. I know everyone is asking about the availability in other calibers, but what about SA offering this in a full size model? I have small hands and I love my single stacks. I have already committed to buying of of these XDs, but I sure would love a full size model to go along with my Range Officer and my P220. Just a thought.

Oh no, now you've done it. You've stared the speculation for a whole 'nother gun and the XDs isn't even out in .45 yet, let alone the possible 9/40 variations.

so you want a polymer 1911?

i feel like the whole point of this gun is concealability, making it full size would just contradict that

Well I don't really understand your logic. They made XD sub compacts with the intent of concealed carry, but there are still tactical models. There full size as well as compact 1911's. There are Tactical and Service size P220's as well as carry models. I don't see why what I'm proposing is so off the wall. The only difference is this case is that the compact model preceded the full size model.

Ps. As far as the question of it being a good idea or not. If SA did a full size, single stack .45 XD. I would be all over that like ugly and fat on Rosie O'Donnell.

no offense man, but this is supposed to be a compact ccw gun, that's all, and I really hope springfield sticks to that concept for this model. I can understand the want for a single stack full size xd model, but it doesn't make sense to me in this model. I would be on board with one more the size of a 1911, but not something so thin. Maybe this would be more suited as a single stack xdm, rather than a full size xds

Give people a good polymer 5" barrel and they want a 4".
Give 'em a good polymer 4" Compact and they want a 3" Subcompact.
Give 'em a good selection of Double-Stacks and they want a Subcompact Single stack.
Give 'em a Subcompact single Stack and now they want a Polymer Single Stack Full-Size.
Sheesh... People are never satisfied... ;) :D

i just think an xmd single stack would make a better full size than an xds

I'd think there's something to be said for a slightly larger, single stack .45. Make it roughly the same size as a CCO and I'm all over it! Seriously, a 4.25" barrel would be smokin' hot!

I actually like the idea of a longer slide/barrel on the XDs. Of all the dimensions, it's the grip length followed by the thickness that have the greatest impact on conceal-ability.

i could picture SA doing this, they have a new model pistol so why not exploit it and build as many variations as they possibly can, they do it with every other xd made to date. i wouldnt buy it but someone will

You know what would be really cool? If they made a full size XDs, but made it just a little bit wider so it could be a doublestack!

 Then it would be an XDs (hint, the s stands for slim...as in single stack). The XDs IS an XDm but in single stack.

No, the XDs is it's own animal, internals are different from both XD and XDm.

The xds is different and thinner all over. I'm saying take the xdm, same slide parts everything, slim down the handle to a single stack. I think it would be better dimensions and better ballanced than oversized gun that's less than an inch thick, I think it would shoot a lot better as well.
