Well, I finally broke down and bought my first AK rifle. Been into AR's for awhile and wanted something else fun to shoot, so I bought this Century Arms M70B1 at a local shop.
So far the learning process is going great. As far as these Yugos go, I know the hand guards, and butt stock are different from the standard AK, but am I correct in that the grip and muzzle device are interchangeable?
Looks nice but I prefer the wood stocks over the new plastic ones. Just a personal preference I do believe the stocks will swap. Bought my 1966 model WASR for that reason as price wise they seem to be about the same regardless of yr of mfg.
If you're looking for grip suggestions I have a US Palm on my Saiga 47 and a Magpul on my Century 74. Both are great but I'd pick the Magpul if i could only have one.
Your muzzle is 14x1 LH standard AK thread, and the grips are standard too. Be aware that the grip screw length differs between grips. There are like 5 different lengths depending on the model of AK. your top/action/dest cover is different too.
Tried it out today at 25yds. Shot 60rds of Tula and it went great. Should have brought more ammo. My Magpul grip and cleaning rod will be here tomorrow. Been thinking about getting the Tapco 74 style brake and a sling now.
Nice looking rifle! The information you've gotten thus far is correct. If you're ever looking to put an M4-style collapsing (and/or folding) buttstock on your rifle, Krebs Custom makes an adapter that can make that happen! WE'll also be coming out with a keymod fore-end for it in the near future.
