Went by my LGS today and amazingly they had the extended mags for the XDs. 7 rounders with the grip extenders. $34.99 each. Anyone used these yet?

Uh, a bunch of us? They're overly long for such a small gun, IMO, and more difficult to load rounds into due to the stiffer spring but other than that, they function as advertised.

A bunch? you guys got better resources than I do. Havent been able to find them online for a while, always out of stock. Would you use them as carry clips or simply for range practice?

I'd like to get two to carry as backup, but a 5 rounder would be in the gun for better concealment

Pretty much a "bunch". Lots of info pops up in a search of the XDS sub forum. I used to think the extended mags were going to be just for range use or as the spare carry mag. But I've found that with the combination of my holster pulling the gun into my body and me being a little bigger boned that I can conceal with the 7 rounder perfectly.

+1 although one would be enough for me.

Am going to try one for cc and see if it prints or otherwise obstructs normal movement. While I believe that 5 rounds should be plenty, there is comfort in knowing two more would be available if needed as long as function and appearance aren't compromised.

I would actually like to see a 6 rounder with a smaller extension on the end.

I think this would be the perfect compromise between round count and concealability.

My LGS had them when I bought my XDS so I bought one. It was 32.95. I used it at the range but mostly just used my 5 round mags. I like to practice with what I'm going to carry. I think it's pointless to use the extended mag for EDC. Why not just carry a full size gun if you're going to do that. To each his own. If you want one though and you shop doesn't have them there are plenty on eBay.

Yep, I got one, and actually shoot better with it but still it is my second mag when carrying.

I don't think a 6-rounder would sell, that's only one more than stock and it's not worth the trouble.

And while I love my XDs, those two mags equal the capacity of one in my XD and XD(M) pistols...

    Cheers! M2

I bought two from springfield's website, 30% off, had them even before I bought my XDs ( that shows commitment). Went to the range for the first time with it last night. I used the 7 rd. mags. a little, did not care for the feel, put them away, probably wont use them. The XDs shot perfectly out of the box. This will replace my Glock 27 as my carry:D

I bought a pair of them from Springfield Armory's webshop when they were running their 30% off accessories holiday sale. Were you caught napping? :p

Mine just sit in my range bag for range days. I'm not planning on carrying them. I do carry my spare 5-round mag, though.

I have one, glad I only have one... it's only purpose (for me) is a backup carry magazine.

+1 I bought one of the 7 rounders just to see how it worked. Like you, I did not like the feel. It makes the XD/s feel very awkward and is far longer than I need to get a full grip on the pistol. A six round mag made the same way might be just about right. I guess they might work for those with very large hands, but with the the seven round mag installed, you might as well carry a larger pistol to start with. Kind of negates the whole purpose/idea of the XD/s size so will probably sell the 7 rounder.

I did buy several of the Pearce mag extensions. Modified these to signficantly shorten them and take the extreme curve out of the front, so that they just allow the pinky finger to be fully supported. Rounded all the exposed edges as well and they are very comfortable to use. Plan on using these mags at the range for practice. Still think I will continue to carry with stock 5 round mags though, as the compactness of the stock XD/s is one of the main reasons I bought the gun and it is still very "grippable" and controllable with stock mags, and easier to carry/conceal in an IWB holster.
