I know its been around for awhile but wondered if it is as good as they say. They have a .45 auto + P 165 gr jhp with a polymer cap on the end.
It is flying at 1225 fps, sounds impressive but how good is it for a carry round. I dont have any feeding problems with my XD, but it is supposed to feed just like a fmj.
    Any thoughts?

Glaser safety slugs have not preformed well in any independent tests. They lack the penetration required at less than optimal angles.

i have experience with the PowR'ball ammo...i used to carry it in my Glock 36 a long time ago...

did not care for it at all....and really cor bon ammo in general...

the muzzle blast from the powrball was pretty intense compared to other load from Federal and Winchester...and i could not get consistent accuracy from them compared to other loads

and with Federal HST's out now, that is all i use...and with the XD now my favorite pistol (see my sig line :)))) i have never had any feeding issues from any load

They were accurate for me but the jackets separate and the rounds will not retain 100% weight. Federal EFMJ's are a much better choice until Corbon figures out how to bond the cores and jackets better.

Thanks for the input guys. I always wondered about that ammo but never really heard much about it. I was considering some +p hollow points for my .45 but havent tried any of them yet, just regular 185 gr hp's.

It's made by CorBon and it's a lead bullet with a polymer tip. This does two things.

    1. If your state has made hollow point ammo illegal, this is a way around it. The polymer ball is pushed down into the lead beneath it and causes it to mushroom out (plus it dosn't fill with clothing like some JHP's)

    2. If you have say a 1911 that is finicky about what types of defensive ammo feeds reliably, this gives you a JHP type bullet with the traditional round tip design that will not jam and will feed reliably. And it DOES accomplish that very welll.

It has tremendous muzzle velocity and thus energy. However like emntioned above, the jacket usually does separate from the lead core. But for 500+ ft.lbs of energy, it's a good round if you have feeding issues or legal trouble with JHP's. it's a helluva lot better than traditional FMJ for SD.
