Employer ban questions in PA

    My employer has just instituted a new policy. No guns allowed on property. That is to include the parking lot.
    Now, I have a carry permit.
    I leave my weapon in a locked vehicle and out of sight. In a safe to be exact.
    I have searched the web for any hints on how Pennsylvania stands on this matter and I can not find anything.
    Does anyone have any input on this?
    I sure do not want to be left without a weapon for the majority of my drive time to and from work, nor not have it for all the extra curricular activities after work.
    I just feel this policy inhibits me from being able to protect myself as allowed by law.
    I know they can not search my vehicle without a warrant or police present.
    I am concerned for it is no secret that I have carried for more years than most of the policy makers have been breathing.

    In ND is is against the law for an employer to ban guns from the parking lot if it is secured in your car.

    Not sure about Penn. though.

    I know in Kansas we can keep our firearm in our vehicle. Only buildings can opt-out with no gun sign.

    I haven't read PA law, but in TX you'd be fine to leave it in your car and park in their lot, unless your a school teacher then you can not park on school grounds. Via google I found this http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/878-anti-gun-employer.html which if true, then if I were you I'd decide how important my job is. Maybe parking off employer grounds would be enough to satisfy.

    Go to HR and make sure they know that if a "crazy" ever comes in a shoots up the place, anyone hurt will sue the company because it took their ability to defend themselves.

    Just confirmed on the local PA forum, I am SOL.

    The local police are not Philly union guys, The locals have served and probably will not respond to a request to search my vehicle .... I hope. that being said I know for sure my employer does not carry much clout with the local law enforcement agency.

    Well take it with a grain of salt but if its in your car and locked up as u descibed i wouldnt worry one bit about it.. or just find a new job lol. I live work and carry in pa as well, my employer doent allow carry inside the building but does not specify in my own vehicle. My boss knows I carry and speaking to him casually I asked about the subject and he looked at me and said well if its concealed how do I know u have it and left it at that.. I dont carry when on the clock not stupid and dont wanna lose my job over being an asshat
