Do we know "officially" why SA made the Mag Pouch at 10* angle?

Do we know "officially" why the magazine pouch was angled 10 degrees? Lots of opinions, most negative, so I am wondering...

The traditional double mag method with front of mags facing front doesn't fit well in the XDm pouch and the method it "seems" to be designed for, mag fronts facing together, doesn't seem too friendly to shooting sports like IDPA, etc... You have to remember to turn one mag this way and the other that way...

Just wondering... There must have been a reason since everything else about the "M Factor" is well thought out...

Interesting question. I would like the option of the mags facing whatever direction that suits me. Maybe we'll find out.

One of the gun games... and it might be IDPA limits the amount of mag angle to 10 degrees. The SA mag pouch DOES pass the inspection for that game. In fact, the XD mag pouches are legal for ALL the gun games that I know of, and indeed have been used in most of them at one time or another since they first came out.

And yes you mount them in the carrier (pouch) with the nose of the bullet facing forward in both pouches so when you grab them they rotate up into position to load into the grip of the gun. However, folks can and will do it however they want to.

I HATE my SA mag pouch. SA failed on this one in my eyes... I think I'm going to order a fobus. They are nice and vertical and I can face the mags any way I want.

I don't think the angle going back away from you makes any sense at all. I think they should have made it more traditional straight up and down. Especially when you want to run more than one mag pouch. The V shaped angle makes the mags spread out farther when you want to run 2 pouches for fun.

You mean people actually use those? ;) Gave all my XD gear holsters and mag pouches away. Not a fan of any of them personally.

If you do go with Fobus, get the 6900. Both XDm 9 and 40 mags fit perfectly.

Model 6909 is WAY too tight.

Kind of off topic. I don't mind the mag pouches, but I traded my right hand paddle holster for a left hand model. I always have my IWB holster on my strong side, but when I'm at the range with my friends or my son, there sometimes isn't a convenient place to set down a loaded handgun(in case I need to assist them with something or point something out), so I just drop in it the left hand holster for safe keeping.(My EDC pistol stays on my side on the right) Love that holster, very comfortable and I'm confident it will hold the firearm safe and secure. I catch a little flack for the "Cowboy Pistoleer" look, but it's safe, and faster than clearing the weapon every time I need to set it down. Of course I could always just set it down loaded... but IMO that would not be safe.

One thing I have noticed about the mag pouch is when 2 mags are in it the mag butt plates are both horizontal. This allows you to stand them up, upside down when they are stored off of your belt. You can line up several loaded mags in a row on a shelf in your storage safe or cabinet.

well he does not say anything about the mag pouch

or any of the gear actually

???? I have used the 6909 for both for years now

I do suggest using one for the same caliber however, switching between them the nine will feel loose

The magazine tubes on the XDm 9 and 40 are identical.

Maybe my 6909 is a little tighter than yours. While they do fit, I find it too tight for IPSC matches.

The 6900 offers adequate retention but still comes out effortlessly for speed reloads.

now I could definitely go with that.

I use the fobus for Concealed Carry, the extra retention is needed

my thinking was I shoot other platforms other than the XD line as well.
