I know Echo Tech and Aim Point is the best but I can't shell out 400-500 dollars (more like I’m not willing) for a "red dot" so whets the cheapest red dot, that is decent quality?
looking for 100 dollars or less.

I have a Tasco that I got from Wally World for $30 on my M&P15-22. Seems to be working great so far. Not sure how it would hold up to a real AR's heavier recoil.

Mine holds zero pretty good, this is a target after 3 different trips to the range w/ the PA red dot (rapid fire 50yards)

You also can't go wrong with the Vortex StrikeFire. Lifetime warranty, high mount to co-witness with iron sights, and comes with a 2x screw in doubler. I had one on my last AR-15, and I will be ordering another one soon for my new AR.

Unless you're a member of Rambolistas Anonymous, then you'll be hard-pressed to beat the proven Tasco PDP3. Used in competiton for years. I'm currently using four. My original PDP3 is about 15-yrs-old and has withstood the recoil of a Mod 29 Smith .44 Magnum. Contrary to the billing, the PDP3 in the enclosed link doesn't have a T reticle, but a 5 m.o.a. dot, and it does use two 2032 batteries, instead of 1, which makes for a really bright dot.
